The office is taking a winter break and will therefore not be staffed from 20 December 2023 to 7 January 2025.

How trees can protect against flooding

Trees are real flood protectors: they stabilise soils, slow down the flow of water and reduce the risk of flooding. They therefore make an important contribution to safety, especially in times of climate change.

Successful HWNG workshop: Social media in flood crisis communication

On 12 November 2024, experts and decision-makers in Lahnstein discussed the role of social media in coping with extreme events such as floods. Lord Mayor Lennart Siefert emphasised how crucial fast and reliable information via social media can be in saving lives. We as HKC were also on site!
