Heatwave in Germany - threat of severe weather

Germany is currently experiencing an extreme heatwave. In large parts of the country, temperatures will rise to up to 40 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday. The west, south and center of the country are particularly affected. Tropical nights with temperatures above 24 degrees make it difficult to cool down.

Insure houses against flooding: It gets expensive in risk areas

In Bavaria, only around one in two homes is currently insured against natural hazards such as flooding - even though more and more homes are located in risk zones. Analyses by the comparison portal Verivox show: For a 150 m² house with a PV system, natural hazard protection costs around €116 per year in “normal” areas - but over €1,900 in high-risk flood zones, i.e. more than 15 times as much.

With the “Wasserstark.SH” initiative, the state of Schleswig-Holstein is sensitizing its citizens to the increasing dangers of flooding, storm surges and heavy rainfall. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of personal precautions and provide information on protective measures.
