The network for holistic flood prevention and flood risk management

 

The Flood Competence Center (HKC) is a non-profit association from Germany that connects flood-affected citizens and stakeholders in flood risk management to build a unique network. The HKC was founded in 2007 and consists of almost 200 members and cooperations. The members of the HKC are composed of national and international institutions and municipalities, citizens and policy-makers, science and economy.

 

The HKC brings together science and practice for the purpose of holistic flood risk management, promoting sustainable development and the provision and transfer of expertise.

FgHW-Lunchbreak Sessions 2024

For 2024, the Lunchbreak Sessions are also planned, which were introduced last year under the leadership of Prof Dr Robert Jüpner as a new offering of the Hydrological Sciences Association (FgHW) in the DWA.

HKC awarded the Erftverband's "Zukunftspreis"

Last week, the Erftverband awarded its Future Prize for the tenth time. The HKC is very pleased to be able to accept this socially important prize. The award was presented to Georg Johann, Jutta Lenz and Reinhard Vogt on behalf of the HKC staff.

The flood disaster in summer 2021 in NRW and RLP hast shown how important a detailed situation picture is for an effective operational flood protection. As part of the work program "Optimization of Operational Flood Protection" in the research project KAHR of the TU Kaiserslautern and the research project "3D Situation Picture" of the Bauhaus University Weimar, we organize a workshop on "Data Collection and Information Systems for Successful Flood Risk Management"
