At the Extreme Weather Day on 20th July 2024 in Reutlingen, solutions and precautionary measures for floods, heavy rain, extreme heat and hail will be presented to help citizens understand and prevent extreme weather.
Reutlingen's Lord Mayor Thomas Keck and State Environment Minister Thekla Walker open the day. ARD weather expert Thomas Ranft and storm chaser Marco Kaschuba will shed light on the increasing number of extreme weather events. An expert discussion will provide space for questions.
In the Bürgerpark around the Stadthalle, interested parties can explore the causes of flooding and heavy rainfall on a natural hazard model and obtain advice on countermeasures. Our Infomobile will be on site together with the Reutlingen fire brigade to provide valuable tips.
One highlight will be the presentation of new flood and heavy rain hazard maps. Experts will provide advice on individual risks and possible protection systems. There will be numerous hands-on activities for children and adults on the subject of climate change, accompanied by a catering area.
Stadtentwässerung Reutlingen (SER) is organising the day in cooperation with the city of Reutlingen. Further information and the full programme will be available shortly at www.extremwettertag.de.
