News: Light flooding in Rhineland-Palatinate

On 6 January 2025, the Moselle overflowed its banks in several towns.

In Trier, the water level rose to 8.5 metres, which led to flooding in the city centre. In Koblenz, the water level reached 7.8 metres, flooding the riverside promenade. The authorities are warning of further rainfall and advising residents to take precautions. Shipping on the Moselle has been temporarily suspended. The public is asked to heed the current weather warnings and avoid areas at risk.
